Patch work is the same trade.

Priced on what caused it

A knock from a door handle is a quick job. A crack along a joint means something has moved, so we deal with the joint, or the crack comes back.

A small laundry mid-stop through the doorway, compound bands drying

Blended into the wall around it

The damage is cut back to solid board, taped, coated and feathered out past the break before it is sanded. Done that way, you will not find the repair in a year.

What we get called for

  • A carpeted bedroom stopped and unpainted, skim bands drying, a TV bracket on the wall

    Holes and Knocks

Door handles, furniture, a missed step in the roof space. New board goes back in before anything is stopped, so it is a repair rather than a filler job.

  • A wall-to-ceiling corner with fresh compound feathered along both junctions, lit close by a work light

    Cracked Joints

A line opening along a ceiling junction, above a door, or down a corner. Old houses do it as they move, and new ones do it as they settle.

  • Cottage walls opened to the framing, first sheets of new board going on

    Water Damage

Stained, soft or sagging board after a leak. Once it is dry the failed sheet comes out and the new one goes back flush.

  • An older attic bedroom with dormer windows and a dado rail, the walls skimmed to one plane and the furniture under plastic

    Tired Old Walls

Rooms in older houses skimmed back to one flat plane, so the new paint has something worth going onto.

Getting the room back in service

Short notice

Booked around the gap you have

Small work gets fitted to the window rather than the window to the work. Tell us the date it has to be usable and we will tell you straight whether we can make it.

Painted

Not handed over as a bare patch

On a turnaround the patch is plastered and painted, so the room is finished when we leave rather than waiting on another trade for a square metre of wall.

One visit

Everything on the list at once

Dings down a hallway, a cracked ceiling joint and a hole behind a door are one job, not three. Send the whole list and it gets priced and done together.

What to expect in your house

  1. Send us the damage

A photo and a rough size is usually enough to price a small job. Bigger than that, we come and look. Free either way.

  2. Contain the dust

Floors sheeted and the work area closed off. Sanding dust travels, so we stop it at the door.

  3. Patch and plaster

Compound dries between coats, so a repair takes more than one pass. Nothing goes on top until the coat under it is dry and checked.

  4. Paint to match

Painted out with the wall so the repair disappears, not just the hole.
