Right from the first sheet.

Board hung square and screwed off right, sheets laid out so joints land where they finish best.

A flat wall starts behind the gib.

To ensure your residential build, renovation or high-end architectural home has the perfect base.

The board itself

Standard

Most walls and ceilings

The ordinary sheet, in the thickness the ceiling span and the stud centres call for. Hung square, screwed off to spec, edges landed where the stopper needs them.

Fire-rated

Where the drawings call it up

Rated systems are a system, not a sheet: the board, the fixings, the centres and the joints all have to match the specification, because the rating is only worth what the whole build-up delivers.

Wet areas

Bathrooms, laundries, showers

Moisture-resisting board behind tile and in the splash zones, set out so the joints and the linings suit whatever waterproofing and tiling comes after us.

Bracing

Board doing structural work

Where a wall is a bracing element the fixing pattern is the engineering. Nail or screw spacing is not a preference on those walls, and it gets fixed to the schedule.

Back to the framing, then boarded out.

An old cottage reline, photographed twice on the same job: walls stripped to the studs with the first sheets going up, and the same rooms boarded and taped ready for their coats.

How the fix runs

  1. Set out the steel

Rondo battens and steel framing set level and true where the job calls for them. Board is only as straight as what it lands on.

  2. Hang the board

Sheets laid out so joints land where they finish best: recessed edges together, cut edges supported, joints run away from the openings.

  3. Screw off and back-block

Screwed off to the pattern the system specifies, back-blocked where the spans need it.

  4. Hand to the stopper

The fix gets its own check before any compound goes on. A bad fix cannot be stopped flat, so it gets caught here, not three coats later.
